I hav ealso included the recycler folder with its two subfolders one of which is Nprotect. and go all the way up to 00456076.  Some have file extensions, some don't.  Some of the file extensions are: .exe or .EXE (some follow the extension with numerals, such as Make sure that the following is configured as specified: Show Hidden Files and Folders IS checked Hide extension for known file type is NOT checked Hide protected operating system files is I have installed and reinstalled this and previous versions of NU already.

The only reasons I can think why emptying would take hours is having lots of very small files on very fragmented disk, or some program interfering with the process.

One more thing I should say in case it makes any difference, after I do the process of clicking on 'my computer' and then clicking on 'c drive', the 'recycler' folder If you are wanting a new AV, you could try some of the free ones highly recommended by the experts here.
